Most confusion about Komodo liveaboard cost comes from comparing two different products as if they were one. A per-cabin seat on a shared boat and a whole-boat private charter answer different questions, and the numbers attached to them are not comparable until you fix the headcount. Is a Komodo liveaboard priced per cabin or per boat?

Both models exist in Labuan Bajo. On a shared or open trip, an operator sells individual cabins and fills the boat with unrelated guests; you pay a per-person, per-night rate and the itinerary is fixed before you book. On a private charter, one group takes the whole vessel and pays a nightly boat rate regardless of how many berths are occupied, and the itinerary is set with the group.

The practical consequence is that whole-boat pricing gets cheaper per person as the group grows, while per-cabin pricing does not. A whole-boat rate that looks high at four guests can land in ordinary per-person territory at eighteen. What does LASHA publish for Komodo?

The multi-night Komodo band — published as the Komodo, Alor, Sumbawa, Lombok and Bali band, with a two-night minimum — appears as a range rather than a single number, and it is worth stating why. The published rate table on lashacruise.com puts this band at USD 10,800 per night leisure and USD 11,600 per night diving for 1–14 guests, rising with group size to USD 17,000 leisure at 22 paying guests. The charter desk confirms the exact figure in the written quotation, and that quotation — not a rate page — is the number to plan against.

By contrast, the long-range eastern expedition band (Raja Ampat, Banda Sea, Wakatobi, Maratua, five-night minimum) is published as one consistent ladder: USD 11,600 leisure and USD 12,400 diving per night for 1–14 paying guests, up to USD 18,200 leisure and USD 17,600 diving at 22 paying guests, with the free-of-charge ladder already contained in those totals. At 22 paying guests plus four free-of-charge places, that band works out at roughly USD 700 per person per night — the practical floor for this vessel.

What sits outside the charter rate?

1. Marine park and regency entrance fees. USD 25 per guest per night on the overnight bands; USD 35 per guest on the two-day-one-night and one-day formats.
2. Diving programme supplement. Plus USD 55 per guest per night over the leisure rate.
3. Relocation fee where boarding happens away from Labuan Bajo outside a scheduled positioning window.
4. Flights, hotels, visas, travel insurance, alcoholic drinks, spa and land transfers. These sit outside every charter rate, and they are where budgets quietly expand.

Deposit and cancellation terms are issued in writing with the quotation. LASHA's own documentation is explicit that it does not publish a deposit percentage it cannot yet verify, and you should read any operator's terms in the contract rather than from a web page.

What government charges apply inside Komodo National Park?

Entry to Komodo National Park carries non-tax state charges set under Indonesian Government Regulation PP 36/2024, with separate tariffs for foreign and Indonesian visitors and additional charges for activities such as diving. Those tariffs are revised from time to time, so verify the figures in force for your dates against the park authority's own announcement and the official SiOra reservation system rather than a blog. On a LASHA charter the practical budget line is simpler: the USD 25 or USD 35 per-guest entrance-fee line above.

Two further points matter for budgeting. A naturalist guide is required for the land visits at Loh Liang on Komodo Island and Loh Buaya on Rinca, and guiding is charged per group under an official tariff. Since 1 April 2026 the park has operated a daily visitor quota — widely reported as 1,000 visitors per day following the Ministry of Forestry announcement, and scheduled for periodic review — with reservations handled through SiOra, the official ticketing platform launched in July 2025. Confirm the quota and the booking window through SiOra before fixing dates.

Why do two luxury Komodo quotes differ so much?

Above eighteen, the per-person arithmetic tightens, and the free-of-charge ladder tightens it further. Then add the fee lines: entrance fees per guest per night, the diving supplement if you are diving, and flights to Labuan Bajo. Ask for the written quotation before committing to dates — that document is what you are actually buying.
