What Is a LASHA Liveaboard Charter?

A LASHA liveaboard is a private, whole-boat charter on which up to 26 guests sleep aboard our 52.5-metre phinisi at anchor — from $10,800 per night on the Komodo · Alor · Sumbawa · Bali cluster (minimum 2 nights) and from $11,600 per night on Raja Ampat · Banda Sea · Wakatobi expeditions (minimum 5 nights).

Liveaboard is the operative word. The ship is the hotel: you board in Labuan Bajo, the harbor noise falls away within the hour, and for the next two, three or five-plus nights every meal, swim, trek and sleep happens on board or by tender from it. There is no checking in twice and no racing back to port before dark — the anchorage moves so you do not have to.

We are also new, and we say so plainly. LASHA was built in 2023 from Ulin ironwood and teak, carries 466 gross tons across four decks, and begins her maiden public Komodo season on 17 August 2026 — Indonesian Independence Day — from her home port of Labuan Bajo. No season means no guest reviews yet; what we publish instead is the hard data a charter decision actually needs: cabin numbers, rate bands, minimum nights and the day rhythm below.

The Day at Sea

How Does a Day at Anchor Actually Run?

Tides and ranger schedules write the timetable; the crew rebuilds the day around them while you are still asleep. A representative dry-season day in Komodo runs like this.

04:45 — First Light

The day starts at 4:45 am on purpose. Because we slept inside the park, the tender puts early risers ashore at Padar for the sunrise climb while the day boats are still clearing Labuan Bajo harbor, roughly two hours behind. Breakfast waits at the alfresco table when you come back down.

Morning — In the Water

Manta Point on the right tide: reef mantas hold at 10–20 metres, so divers work the drift while snorkelers ride the same current from the surface. Most charter days carry two to three dives or swim sessions, set by the tide tables rather than a fixed count.

Afternoon — At Anchor

The hours day-trippers spend commuting, you spend at anchor: a proper siesta in an ensuite cabin, the sun-deck jacuzzi, or a ranger-guided dragon trek at Loh Liang timed against the heat. The ship repositions to the evening anchorage while you rest.

Dusk to Night — The Quiet Part

Flying foxes stream off Kalong Island at sunset, watched from your own deck with dinner to follow at anchor. Then comes the part no day format can sell: a protected bay, a dark sky, and ten cabins already made up one deck below.

Sleeping at Sea

Ten Ensuite Cabins, Four Decks, One Group

Liveaboard comfort is decided at 2 am, not at the brochure stage — which is why all 10 cabins are ensuite, air-conditioned and finished with marble bathrooms and rain showers. The vessel sleeps up to 26 guests with extra beds, and on a private charter every cabin belongs to your group. Nobody shares with strangers, because we never sell LASHA by the cabin.

Lower deck — cabins 101–104. Two Deluxe twins (101, 102) and two Grand Deluxe twins with extra beds (103, 104) sit closest to the waterline, where motion is gentlest at anchor — the deck light sleepers and first-time sailors should claim first.

Main deck — cabins 201–206. Four Junior Suites with double beds — 201 and 202 with private balconies, 203 and 204 with extra beds — share the deck with the living room, and the two Master Suites (205, 206) each carry an in-suite jacuzzi bathtub and a private balcony over the water. On a multi-night charter the balconies earn their keep at 6 am, coffee in hand, before anyone else is up.

Upper and top decks. The Lounge & Resto and chill area take the upper deck; the sun deck and bar take the top. Four separate levels means divers rinsing gear, teenagers on the PlayStation 5 and grandparents reading in the shade never compete for the same square metre — the quiet argument for a 52.5-metre hull on a multi-night route.

Living on Board

Three Dining Rooms, One Galley, No Commute

One galley serves three rooms: the indoor Lounge & Resto on the upper deck, the alfresco table in the open air, and the stern lounge for the slow end of the evening. On a liveaboard the meal rhythm follows the sailing plan rather than the clock — breakfast lands after the sunrise activity, not before it, lunch falls between water sessions, and dinner is served at anchor once the ship has settled for the night.

Dietary requirements are provisioning decisions at sea, so they travel with the booking: tell the desk when you reserve and the galley loads accordingly in Labuan Bajo. There are no supermarkets at anchor inside a national park, which is exactly why we ask early rather than improvise late.

Between meals, the ship absorbs a group the way a villa cannot: the living room and PlayStation 5 on the main deck, the chill area above it, the bar and open-air jacuzzi on the sun deck — separate rooms for separate moods, all within one hull.

LASHA Liveaboard Rates 2026: Leisure and Dive Bands

Every published band carries two tiers — leisure and dive — because the dedicated dive deck on the main deck makes this a working dive liveaboard, not a boat that merely tolerates tanks. Free-of-charge (FOC) places scale with group size.

Published 2026 rate bands for the Komodo · Alor · Sumbawa · Bali cluster, minimum 2 nights. The Raja Ampat · Banda Sea · Wakatobi cluster prices from $11,600 per night with a minimum of 5 nights and its own dive tier above leisure. Park entrance fees are additional at US$25–35 per guest per night depending on route. The FOC scale is worth reading twice: above 14 paying guests it adds roughly one free place per two additional guests, so an 18-guest booking sails 20 people while 18 pay — the mechanism group leaders and dive instructors usually use for themselves. Built for Nights Out

The Numbers That Make Multi-Night Routes Possible

A liveaboard is only as good as its autonomy, and here the owner’s published technical sheet says more than any adjective: 12,000 litres of fuel and 22,000 litres of fresh water — tankage sized so a 5-night eastern expedition runs without a port call — with a Weichai X6170 main engine of 750 Hp and two Mitsubishi 6D22 generators of 70 kVA keeping ten cabins air-conditioned through the night at anchor.

The bridge carries GPS, AIS and radar, with 54-channel CCTV through the vessel. The safety inventory runs past what 26 guests and crew ever require: 2 lifeboats, 4 liferafts of 20 persons each, 75 life jackets, 30 fire extinguishers and 12 ring buoys. Where We Sail

Two Route Clusters, Two Honest Minimums

Komodo · Alor · Sumbawa · Bali — minimum 2 nights. Home waters. From Labuan Bajo the signature anchorages — Padar, Pink Beach, Manta Point, Kalong — are spread across hours of sailing, so two nights is the shortest window in which a liveaboard route makes sense rather than a rushed loop. Raja Ampat · Banda Sea · Wakatobi — minimum 5 nights, from $11,600 per night. From roughly October to April we reposition east with the rest of the Indonesian expedition fleet. The eastern grounds lie well over 1,000 km from Labuan Bajo, and five nights is what that geography demands before the route repays the crossing. The deciding question is usually timing, not budget. The park’s three signature moments — Padar at first light, an uncrowded Manta Point, the Kalong exodus at dusk — all fall outside day-charter hours. Sleeping on board is the only way to hold all three in one trip, which is the case for the liveaboard format in a single sentence.
