Raja Ampat charges two separate entry fees in 2026–2027, not one. The marine park conservation card costs IDR 700,000 for foreign visitors and IDR 425,000 for Indonesians and is valid twelve months; the regency tourism levy introduced under Perbup Raja Ampat No. 34/2025 adds IDR 1,000,000 and IDR 300,000 per visit. Total on entry: IDR 1,700,000 foreign, IDR 650,000 Indonesian. Children under 12 are exempt from both.
This is the single most misreported number in Raja Ampat travel writing. Guides published before 2026 quote IDR 1,000,000 for foreign visitors and stop there, because for years that was the whole story. It is not any more. Two levies now run in parallel, they are collected by different bodies, and only one of them is annual. Getting this wrong at the pier is an unpleasant way to start an expedition, so here is the structure in full.
What Are the Two Fees, Exactly?
| Charge | Foreign visitor | Indonesian visitor | Validity | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Marine park conservation card (TLPJL / PIN) | IDR 700,000 | IDR 425,000 | Valid 12 months from issue | BLUD UPTD Raja Ampat Marine Park (kkprajaampat.com) |
| Regency tourism levy | IDR 1,000,000 | IDR 300,000 | Per visit | Perbup Raja Ampat No. 34/2025; RRI Sorong; TTG Asia, 20 Jan 2026 |
| Total on entry | IDR 1,700,000 | IDR 650,000 | — | Sum of the two rows above |
Children under 12 are exempt from both charges. Figures checked 1 August 2026 — regional levies are revised by regulation, so confirm before travel.
Why Do So Many Sources Still Say IDR 1,000,000?
Because they are describing the world before the regency levy. The conservation card — often called the marine park entry permit, the TLPJL or simply “the PIN” — has existed for years and funds patrols, mooring maintenance and the marine protected area’s operations across roughly two million hectares. The tourism levy is a separate instrument of the regency government, introduced under Perbup No. 34/2025 and reported through Indonesian outlets and regional trade press in January 2026. Neither replaced the other. Any figure you read that quotes a single levy is describing half the bill.
How Are the Fees Paid on a Charter?
For charter guests the practical answer is that the vessel’s agent handles the paperwork for the group on arrival and the charges appear on your account in rupiah. That is an operational arrangement rather than a published rule, so it is stated here as practice and confirmed on your quotation — we are not going to invent a payment portal or an office address. What is certain is that the charge is a government one: it is shown as its own line, at cost, and it is not part of the charter band.
| Line | Basis | Example, 22 paying guests, 10 nights |
|---|---|---|
| Charter | Published eastern band, $18,200 per night | $182,000 for the vessel |
| Park fee | $25 per guest per night | $250 per guest |
| Raja Ampat conservation card | IDR 700,000 per foreign visitor, annual | IDR 700,000 each |
| Regency tourism levy | IDR 1,000,000 per foreign visitor per visit | IDR 1,000,000 each |
| Per person, charter + park fee | $182,000 ÷ 22, plus $250 | $8,523 + IDR 1,700,000 |
Government charges are left in rupiah deliberately: converting them at today’s rate would misstate what you actually pay on your travel date.
How Does Raja Ampat Compare With Komodo?
Travellers doing both in one season are often surprised. Komodo National Park charges IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per visit under PP No. 36 Tahun 2024, with trekking, wildlife observation and snorkelling included in that figure, and IDR 50,000 on weekdays or IDR 75,000 at weekends for Indonesian visitors. Raja Ampat’s combined IDR 1,700,000 is close to seven times the foreign Komodo rate. It also funds a marine protected area covering roughly two million hectares that protects more than 540 species of hard coral — around three-quarters of the world’s known total.
The access logistics that sit around these fees — flights into Sorong, harbour transfers and how the two levies fit into an arrival day — are mapped on the how to get to Raja Ampat page, and every fee question we receive is collected in the expedition FAQ hub. If you want to know what those conservation rupiah are actually protecting, see the species numbers behind the marine park.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to enter Raja Ampat in 2027?
IDR 1,700,000 for foreign visitors and IDR 650,000 for Indonesian visitors — the marine park conservation card at IDR 700,000 / IDR 425,000 plus the regency tourism levy at IDR 1,000,000 / IDR 300,000. Children under 12 are exempt from both.
Why do other guides say the fee is IDR 1,000,000?
Because they are quoting the pre-adjustment structure. The regency tourism levy introduced under Perbup Raja Ampat No. 34/2025 sits alongside the conservation card rather than replacing it, so the total for a foreign visitor is now IDR 1,700,000.
How long is the conservation card valid?
Twelve months from issue. If you return to Raja Ampat inside that year the card still counts, although the regency levy is charged per visit.
Can I pay the fees in advance?
The conservation card is administered by the BLUD UPTD managing the Raja Ampat marine park and is normally settled on arrival through the vessel’s agent for charter guests. Confirm the mechanism on your quotation rather than assuming a payment channel.
Are the fees included in the charter price?
No. They are government charges, shown separately in rupiah on the quotation so you can see which portion is operator revenue and which is not.
How does that compare with Komodo National Park?
Komodo is far cheaper on paper: PP 36/2024 sets IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per visit, and IDR 50,000 on weekdays or IDR 75,000 at weekends for Indonesian visitors. Raja Ampat’s combined total is nearly seven times the foreign Komodo figure.
Where These Numbers Come From
Vessel dimensions, tank capacities, cabin counts and safety inventory come from LASHA’s own published specification sheet on the yacht page. Charter figures are the published 2026–2027 rate file on the rates page — the same document the Komodo Luxury charter desk quotes from, reproduced in full rather than hidden behind an enquiry form. Government fees are cited to their regulation or issuing body in the text. Anything that is an operational estimate rather than a published figure is labelled as an estimate where it appears. LASHA begins her maiden public season on 17 August 2026, so there are no guest reviews to quote yet and none are invented here. Raja Ampat entry charges are cited to the BLUD UPTD managing the marine park and to Perbup Raja Ampat No. 34/2025 as reported by RRI Sorong and TTG Asia on 20 January 2026; Komodo fees are cited to PP No. 36 Tahun 2024. Figures checked 1 August 2026.
Plan This With the Charter Desk
Ask for the fee schedule alongside your charter quotation so there are no surprises at the pier. Every LASHA Phinisi Cruise booking is handled by Komodo Luxury, the vessel’s official marketing and booking partner — an operator working Indonesian waters since 2015 and part of Juara Holding Group. Send your month, guest count and how many of the party dive, and you get a written quotation drawn from the same rate bands published on this site, with every separately billed item listed before anything is paid.
